The two methods of email management
There are basically two types of email. Those are web based and client based. You are most likely familiar with both. With web-based mail such as the free addresses and mailboxes supplied by AOL, Yahoo, and Hotmail one has little control over their messages. We save these in online storage and often there are set time limits before the server (AOL et al) deletes our mail for us. Client base email allows us to save all of our mail and its attachments to files on our computer hard drive. It is difficult to say which of these is more treacherous to use. With web based email you are at the mercy of the huge corporate portals. They are more than capable of losing messages left and right. With a localized client based email system you are in your own hands and suffer the consequences of personal error.
In either of the two email system scenarios messages are constantly being lost. This can be due to data loss during transfers. File corruption during compression and of course accidental deletion.
The main reason to install a localized email client is that when your messages are lost email recovery is quite simple with assistance from Disk Doctors. Disk Doctors makes two programs specifically designed for mail recovery from computers using the world’s two most popular email clients. Those are Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. The latter being the stripped down version of Outlook. Outlook uses the PST (Personal Storage Table) method of saving messages and Outlook Express uses the special Microsoft DBX file system.
